Each story in Ruth A. Zinn’s original Lost Series begins with a child losing an item of importance – which happens to rhyme with the place where it’s lost. But that’s it for rhymes. Children enter a world of magical realism where animals take an interest in the lost article. Bonus timelines of the Belle Isle Zoo, Pinery Provincial Park, and Zingerman’s Deli (so far) add meaning to our relationship with places as they, and we, change over time. A former first grade teacher, Ruth writes with the delightful formality of a Dick and Jane primer that leaves us charmed and wanting more. We can’t wait for I Lost My Pet Mouse…at the Farmhouse!
